Capacity figures use the advertised storage size. Real devices normally have less usable space because of formatting, system files and other stored data.

How video file size is calculated

Video storage is mainly determined by bitrate and recording time.

A higher bitrate records or stores more data every second, which usually produces a larger video file. Higher resolutions and frame rates commonly use higher bitrates, but the exact amount depends on the codec and recording settings.

For example, two 4K 60 fps videos of exactly the same length can have very different file sizes if one uses stronger compression or a lower bitrate.

If you know the actual bitrate of your recording or export, select Enter Bitrate for a more precise calculation.
Useful for: cameras, phones, drones, action cameras, video editing, memory cards, SSD storage and estimating upload requirements.
